A Journey Around The World In One Day

Hong Kong is a very popular tourist destination and most people who go there take side trips to Macau. But for me, there is another beautiful theme park to explore - extend a day and visit the Window of the World. This is situated in the western part of Shenzhen, Republic of China. From HK (Tsimshatsui East), you can take the KCR train and travel for approx. an hour and a half to Shenszen. Take the Metro Line 1 and you will alight at the park's main entrance.

What is so unique about this park?

This showcases replicas of the world's wonders, historical sites and heritages. The ratio of the replica to the actual size range from 1:1 to 1:15. Which continent do you want to explore first?

As an Asian, my first stop over is the Pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza. Walking, you can reach the Taj Mahal - very awesome! Enjoy the Cherry Festival in Japan (lets pray for Japan!). Go to Europe and you will be more amazed with the architectural design of the Eiffel Tower. Explore along the canals of Venice and experience riding in gondola. You can also find Europe the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Buckingham Palace. In Oceania, you have the Sydney Harbour and Opera House of Australia. In America you will enjoy watching the cascading waters of the Niagara Falls. Watch sculptured faces of Jefferson, Lincoln and many more at Mount Rushmore. Here in Window, you will have a taste of Manhattan and the towering skyscrapers. You can take a tour to the Parliament and Statue of Liberty.

There are more places and more activities in this theme park. There are games, shows and exxhibits. The park opens at 9AM and closes at 10:30PM. Getting around the park is not only through tiring footsteps (but this is the best way to explore) because you can join a van tour or ride in the monorail. If you have stayed long enough and are tired to take a trip back to HK at around midnight, you can book a hotel in Shenzhen. Then in the morning before going back to HK, you can explore other places of interest nearby. And - there are very cheap goodies here. A better place to shop for souvenirs and items to bring back home! Aren't products made in China really cheap? Incidentally, entrance to Window of the World is CNP 120 (US$ 18.35 or P790.31).
